Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

VeMark is a mobile and web app that lets you leave memories at every corner of the real world. This policy explains what data we collect, use, and protect when you use VeMark.

2. Data we collect

  • Precise location (GPS coordinates): only when you open the map or check in. Used to show nearby footprints, attach coordinates to your check-ins, and verify whether you are within 1 km of an author so you can like/comment.
  • Account information: when you sign in with your Google account, we receive the name, email and Google subject identifier (sub) you authorise. We never receive your Google password.
  • User content: footprint text, mood, photos and comments you create.
  • Device & technical data: browser type, language, IP address, and error logs, for troubleshooting and security.

3. How we use your data

  • To power core features: map, check-in, comments, likes.
  • To store your footprints and photos so you can revisit them in "My Footprints".
  • To keep the service safe and prevent abuse or spam.
  • To improve the product (aggregated, anonymous statistics only).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties and do not use it for cross-site advertising tracking.

4. Third-party services

  • Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect) — identity.
  • Google Maps Platform — map rendering and reverse geocoding.
  • S3 object storage — photo hosting.

5. Your rights

You can at any time:

  • Sign out from the Profile page.
  • Contact us to delete your entire account and all footprints (email below).
  • Revoke location permission in iPhone Settings → Safari/Chrome → site settings, or Android Settings → Apps → Permissions. After revocation you can still browse VeMark, but cannot add footprints or unlock nearby comments.

6. Data retention

Your footprints and photos are kept until you delete them or request account deletion. Error logs are automatically purged after 30 days.

7. Children

VeMark is not designed for children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has given us data without consent, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

8. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced inside the app.
